Taught by

Cristiano Fabbri

From a study that gave rise to a scene from one of his shows, he developed this physical training technique using unpolished wooden sticks (handmade). He proposed this activity as a course geared towards refining gestures, and improving the responsiveness and understanding of working with 'linear' objects:  their weight and volume, as well as their scenographic impact.

The work is divided into two parts: one is dedicated to warming up, with specific manipulation and movement work to become confident with the sticks, and to manage limitations and risks. The second involves working in pairs, or with several performers, with a number of sticks and stick combinations. This last part also focuses on composition, where the material, the sticks, form a choreographic and scenographic element.
