Cristiano Fabbri

Cristiano Fabbri (IT) started performing as a dancer in the 1990s, and since 1995, I have gained experience in various sectors: television, advertising, opera and ballet, theatre, contemporary dance (including Aldes, Sosta Palmizi, Deja Donne, Arbalete with Echo Art and the Sufi community of Mevlevi Dervishes). Today, he is a dancer, choreographer, writer, and teacher, with experience in acting gained mainly with Teatro dell’Archivolto in Genoa and Teatro delle Briciole in Parma. Artistic collaborations include Aline Nari, Schuko, Stefanie Nelson, Marta Bevilacqua, Marco Laganà (puppeteer and artist), the sculptor Balàzs Berzsenyi, Marzio Mirabella (video), Giovanni Ricciardi (cello), and above all the Lische company, founded with Simone Magnani, which debuted in London with Aerowaves in 2004. He’s authored 24 collaborative productions, 10 of which he was the sole author. Recent productions include ‘Perché mi hai Abbandonato’ (Why have you abandoned me) which won the ‘Resistere e Creare’ funding competition. He recently reinterpreted ‘Natura Morta con Gioco’ (Still Life with a game) for the Carne festival with the support of ERT, Balletto Civile (Michela Lucenti), and the Teatro della Tosse. He’s currently working on new collaborative projects with musicians; ‘Re de Nasi’ with composer Andrea Macciò takes its theme of man/marionette from Pinnochio; and ‘Quid - harmonic progression’ is a collaboration with pianist and composer Tina Omerzo in which music and physical improvisation guide the timing and development of the performance.

Cristiano has been teaching for many years in different contexts: advanced training courses, open workshops, acting schools, and dance schools. He was invited to teach warm-up classes for Ultima Vez for performances at the Teatro della Tosse, Genova, during the 2016 tour of ‘In spite of Wishing and Wanting’.

He is a published author of poetry collections as well as scripts for his shows; Libro Italiano, ‘Resina Rossa, breve raccolta di vertigini’ (Red Resin: a short collection of dizziness), and he is a holistic and shiatsu practitioner; keeping him close to what the body tells us.
