Programs

Young Artists
Jul 19 - Aug 3, 2024

For ages 16-17 (15-year-olds may be accepted on an individual basis)

Dance Italia offers focused and individualized* training to advanced intermediate/advanced-level dancers with renowned educators and choreographers.

Our goal is to provide each dancer with the opportunity to grow and develop as movers and artists in a supportive and creative environment, providing them with a platform to discover a diverse range of contemporary techniques, while immersing themselves in the local culture.

Students take 3 daily classes in contemporary dance forms, improvisation, choreography, and more. Classes rotate throughout the intensive so there’s always something new. Young Artists have the opportunity to be part of the creation of a new work that will be performed at the culmination of the intensive for the Dance Italia community and the general public. The intensive also includes a half-day trip to Pisa, the beach, a photo shoot, and a walking tour of Lucca.

*We will accept a maximum of 16 full-time dancers for our 2024 Young Artists Program.

Lucca is a city on the Serchio River in Italy’s Tuscany region. It’s renowned for the well-preserved Renaissance walls encircling its historic city center and its cobblestone streets. Broad, tree-lined pathways along the tops of the massive 16th- and 17th-century ramparts are popular for strolling and cycling. Lucca features some of Italy's finest medieval and Renaissance architecture, superb dining, antique markets, classical and rock music festivals, easy access to stunning nearby villas in the surrounding hills, and endless beaches less than half an hour away. Lucca is one of Tuscany's best-kept secrets.
